2017 First Steamworks


FIRST Steamworks is the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition game.The game is played by two alliances of three teams each, and involves building your alliances airship and taking flight, teams build their ships using gears (11" plastic gears) and power it by scoring fuel (5" wiffle balls) into the high or low goals on the boiler.  In  the last 30 seconds of the match teams must climb aboard the ships using a 1" diameter rope and take off into victory. Competed at Greater Toronto East Regional. Finished 7th alliance captain with 3710, 1285 eliminated by eventual finalist team 1241, 1114, 2935 .

2016 FIRST Stronghold

FIRST Stronghold is the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition game.The game is played by two alliances of three teams each, and involves breaching the opponents’ defenses, known as outer works, and capturing their tower by first firing "boulders" (small foam balls) at it and then surrounding or scaling the tower using rungs. Points are scored by crossing elements of the tower's outer works, shooting boulders into the opposing tower's five goals in order to lower the tower strength, and by surrounding and scaling the tower.

2015 Robot: Nocturne

Nocturne is our 2015 robot, made to the play the game, Recycle Rush. Nocturne was designed to grab two grey totes from the landfill and stack them to create two stacks of totes simultaneously. Our pneumatic claw could also grab recycling containers, allowing our robot to score recycling containers when needed. Our robot featured a holonomic x-drive with a linear elevator and a pneumatic claw mounted to the elevator.

►Geared for 16 feet per second in the primary axis of motion

ELEVATOR

►Linear elevator powered by 2 CIMS, at 1:7
►1.875" diameter winch
►going from bottom to top in 0.6 seconds under 90lbs load
►has the ability to right the robot if it tips

PNEUMATIC CLAW

►two pistons, 1 to open and close each side of claw
►claw sides open and close on sliders and bearings
►able to grab two totes at a time
►able to grab both totes and recycling containers
